Project of the month

Darlinghurst Apartment I

Perched in the heart of Darlinghurst, this apartment renovation is a testament to how intelligent design can elevate compact urban living. Working within a modest footprint, the project embraces a sleek, pared-back aesthetic defined by a light, tonal palette and a selection of meticulously curated, high-end finishes.
 
The project entailed a collaboration with iconic Italian design house Boffi, whose exquisite joinery, tiles, and bespoke furniture anchor the space with a quiet sophistication. The synergy between form and function is evident in every detail—each surface, junction, and material choice carefully considered to create a sense of cohesion and calm.
 
Delivering this level of craftsmanship in a constrained inner-city site posed notable challenges. The logistical complexity of working within a small apartment was compounded by the need for major crane lifts from busy Bourke Street and daily labour to bring materials into the apartment and take waste out.
 
This project was made all the more rewarding through our close collaboration with Boffi and the sophisticated design leadership of Lane Studio —a partnership that brought clarity, craft, and elevated vision to every square metre.

Superyacht Soirée

We were thrilled to be part of this year’s Superyacht Soirée, proudly hosted by Australia Superyacht at Jones Bay Marina earlier in March. As our first official sponsorship, the event provided a fantastic introduction to the world of luxury marine experiences and perfectly aligned with Horizon’s commitment to quality, design, and craftsmanship.

The Superyacht Soirée is an exclusive industry event that brings together the best of luxury lifestyle. Guests were invited to ‘Yacht Hop’ through a curated collection of spectacular vessels, each accompanied by their Captain and crew, who offered private tours and insights.

Horizon was on hand showcasing our portfolio of bespoke residential homes, highlighting our team’s decades of experience, knowledge and dedication to building to the highest standards. This demonstrated how the same meticulous attention to detail found in world-class yachts is reflected in our homes, while providing a great opportunity to connect with likeminded brands and individuals who appreciate exceptional craftsmanship.

Vaucluse Residence XX

Point Piper Residence I

We’re excited to break ground on our latest project— a complete new build of a stunning three-story home in Vaucluse. This modern residence will feature 4 spacious bedrooms, 2.5 bathrooms, a sleek pool and a secure garage. Working alongside architect Alex Smith from CSA Architects and the team at Studio Aquilo for interiors, we’re bringing this vision to life with precision and style. Stay tuned for progress updates as we transform plans into reality! 

Our extensive renovations in Point Piper are now in the final stages! This stunning transformation includes a revamped pool, a beautifully landscaped courtyard, and upgrades around the pool and tennis court. Inside, the finishing touches are being applied to four luxurious bedrooms, each with an ensuite, spacious walk-in wardrobes, a modern kitchen, dining room, living room and formal sitting room. Working closely with the renowned architect Thomas Hamel, we’re putting the finishing touches on this spectacular family home and excited to show the finish product.

Employee of the month

This month we meet one of Horizon’s dedicated carpenters, Kai McDonald, who joined Horizon in 2021, and completed his apprenticeship with Horizon this year. Kai continues to grow and develop his skills and knowledge, going from strength to strength!

How long have you been at Horizon?
I’ve been with Horizon for 3 years.

Where were you born?
Randwick.

What do you love about your job?
The variety of work keeps things interesting and love being able to stay physically active.

What are you working on at the moment?
Working on a renovation project in Vaucluse that includes a wellness centre.

What do you enjoy about working with architects and designers?
The creativity of architects and designers bringing fresh ideas to the project.

What’s the most useful thing you’ve learned throughout your career?
Always ask questions.

Three people you’d have over for a BBQ?
Denzel Washington, Gordon Ramsey and Theo Von.

Favourite dessert?
My favourite dessert is ice cream.

What do you do outside of work?
Surf and boxing.
