Surry Hills Residence I
Terraces always offer a challenge for our team, and this residence located in the heart of Surry Hills did not disappoint. The client’s priority was to convert this dilapidated terrace into a three storey home which maximised the use of space on the narrow block. The building was extended both up and out. We converted the attic into a master bedroom through the construction of a dormer. Significant excavation was undertaken on the ground floor to maximise head height and produce an extremely spacious kitchen and living area. This required extensive underpinning and waterproofing to remediate the original foundations of this 100 year old terrace. Additionally, the footprint of the house was extended to the boundary, which involved needling the original brickwork and installing new steel beams to enable the new wide span of the home.
The Horizon team worked in tandem with the architect and engineer to develop and adapt the scope as required to remediate and repair the century old foundations of the terrace. We are very proud to deliver this bright, spacious and modern home!
